JAMMU, May 10: State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) Volunteer Retirement Employees Association held protest demonstration here today.
Amid slogans, VRS employees under the leadership of Dev Raj Bali, president, VRS Union assembled outside Press Club and held protest.
Addressing the gathering, Dev Raj Bali said that the SRTC management and the Government are not clearing their dues for which they have been struggling.
“We are struggling for our demands for the past over three years, but the SRTC management and the Finance Department are not paying any heed, thus compelling us to intensify our agitation”, he added.
He said 126 slabs of Cost of Living Allowances (COLA) were given to in-service and latest retired employees of the SRTC from January 1, 2006 but the same was not paid to 670 VRS employees.
Bali demanded sixth Pay Commission arrears with effect from January 1, 2006, release of pending arrears since 1999 and due drawn bill including leave salary gratuity and ex-gratia grant.
Among others present were Balwainder Singh, DN Sharma, Prem Nath, BV Sharma, Sain Mohd, Surjit Singh, Gulshan Singh, Jasbir Singh, etc.
