Disaster management

Sir,
In the wake of massive earthquake that hit Doda region recently, the State Disaster management has come under flak for being ill-prepared to meet the crisis.
After Uri earthquake and Leh cloudburst episodes there was clamour from every quarter of the State to have a quick responsive disaster management body in place. Some  spade work was also done in this regard. Many seminars and debates were arranged in educational institutions of the State to bring forth the importance of Disaster Management in the State. But nothing substantial has been done to meet the challenges arising out of any calamity.
It is reported that State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) which is responsible to meet the disaster challenge is not well in shape. The force members need more training and equipments to come with flying colours during the crisis.
The Government should ensure that SDRF is fully equipped with men, material and money to meet disaster of any kind.
Yours etc….
