UDHAMPUR, Dec 4: Continuing its drive against smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances, Police Party of Police Station Udhampur today apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 95 kg of poppy straw from their possession.
The poppy straw was being smuggled in a Mahindra Bolero load carrier, which was intercepted at Mandir-Masjid Naka, Jakheni by Police team of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Vijay Singh Choudhary, along with Mohd Saleem, Executive Magistrate, Udhampur, under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch Addl. SP Udhampur and Dr Rohit Chadgal DySP Hqrs Udhampur.
During search of the load carrier, bearing registration number PB13AL-6409, Police found 95 kg of poppy straw like substance from the vehicle. On this, driver of the vehicle and his associated were arrested on the spot. They were identified as Arun Singh (driver), son of Haru Singh of village Jodha, Tehsil and District Ludhiana, Punjab and his associate Jasbir Singh, son of Surjeet Singh of village Sehajwal, Tehsil Jagroan, District Ludhiana, Punjab.
Police also seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the vehicle and registered a case, FIR number 615/2020 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act, in this connection at Police Station Udhampur.
