SAMBA, Apr 26: Samba Police has arrested one smuggler and recovered 9 kgs of charas from his possession at Mansar today.
According to SSP Samba Anil Magotra during its drive a police party headed by Sub Inspector Nishant Gupta in charge Police Post, Mansar under the supervision of Vijay Pal Singh DySP HQ Samba during a routine Naka checking at Mansar intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03B-4215 and during search it recovered 9 kgs of charas from the possession of one Jhangir Ahmed Dar, son Manzoor Ahmed Dar, R/o Dogripura, Tehsil Awantipora, Pulwama. The smuggler disclosed that consignment was to be delivered from Kashmir to Punjab, he added.
He said a case FIR No 67/2014 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Samba.
The accused was also produced before the Executive Magistrate, Class Ist and police remand for four days has been obtained to carry out further investigation.
Mr Magotra said that the police has intensified drive against the drug menace in the district.
