Ceasefire violations in Gurez, Tangdar

Srinagar, Feb 2: At least nine persons including two CRPRF men and seven civilians were injured in a grenade attack by militants in Partap Park, Lal Chowk area of Srinagar today.
Militants hurled a grenade in Partap Park, Srinagar this afternoon where CRPF personnel were deployed for security duty. The grenade exploded in the corner of the Park, injuring nine people who were rushed to a hospital.
The explosion caused panic among the people, especially those who had come to the weekly flea market. Security forces cordoned off the area and conducted searches for the militants responsible for the grenade attack. However, no one was arrested.
The attack comes two weeks after police busted a module of Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit in Srinagar by arresting its five operatives. The module was involved in multiple grenade attacks in Srinagar.
Those arrested included Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Hazratbal, driver by profession and Umar Hameed Sheikh, resident of Hazratbal, street vendor by profession, Imtiyaz Ahmed Chikla, alias Imran, resident of Hazratbal, Sports shop owner, Sahil Farooq Gojri, resident of Soura, doing private job and Naseer Ahmad Mir, resident of Hazratbal, businessman by occupation.
And Pakistani troops today violated ceasefire in North Kashmir’s Gurez and Tangdar sectors, injuring a soldier.
An official said that Pakistani troops this morning violated ceasefire in Gurez sector of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district injuring an Army personnel.
He said that Sandeep Yadav (No 2802081X ) of 6-Maratha posted at Pant Post of Bagtore area of Gurez received bullet injury on right hand in the Pakistani firing. He said that he was fired at by Pakistani troops from Losar Post at around 5 am. The soldier was airlifted to Srinagar for treatment.
The official said that Army posted in the area gave befitting reply to the Pakistani firing and it continued for over an hour.
The official said that Pakistani troops also violated ceasefire in Tangdar sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara sector today.
The official said that Pakistani troops manning Papa-1 post fired with small arms towards Indian post Vayou where 39 GR of Army is posted. The fire started at 12 noon. However, no loss of life and property was reported. He added that Army also retaliated.
