NIA raids 5 locations including house of BJP Sarpanch

Srinagar, Feb 2: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) this morning carried out searches at five places, including that of a Sarpanch of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in connection with a case in which DySP Davinder Singh was arrested while ferrying militants outside Kashmir.
The raids were carried out this morning in South Kashmir’s Kulgam and Shopian districts, at the residences of Rafi Ahmed Rather, an arrested militant, at Zainapora.
The NIA teams entered into the house of Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Adil Hussain and Sarpanch Tariq Ahmed Mir belonging to BJP besides the houses of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) at Maldera in Shopian and Kulgam.
The NIA teams carried out searches and seized some documents during these raids. The NIA teams had already arrived in South Kashmir last night and conducted raids early in the morning. The raids lasted several hours.
The NIA had taken over the case of Davinder Singh, who was caught in South Kashmir while ferrying two militants out of the Valley on January 11.
The searches come days after NIA officers’ interrogated all the accused arrested in the case. Besides Singh, the others arrested were Naveed Mushtaq Ahmed alias Naveed Babu, who was deputy commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen, Rafi Ahmed Rather and advocate Irfan Shafi Mir. Naveed’s brother, Syed Irfan Ahmed, was arrested on January 23 after he was brought from Punjab.
In the meantime, police last night arrested brother of Jaish-e-Mohammad commander from Karimabad in Pulwama district in connection with the investigations into ferrying of three militants who were killed in an encounter in Jammu on Friday.
Police arrested Shoib Manzoor, brother of JeM commander Zahid Manzoor last night from Karimabad after his name surface during the interrogation of trucker who ferried the three foreign militants.
The trucker during the interrogation has revealed that Shoib Manzoor had received three militants of JeM last year and gave them shelter in his house.
In the morning, the youth in Karimabad took to streets against the arrest of Manzoor and pelted stones on the security forces who fired tear smoke to disperse them.
