SRINAGAR, Sept 9: The 82 displaced students of various camp schools who were on nine days goodwill tour of Kashmir valley returned today.
These students visited various parts of Kashmir valley including the holy religious places of Sun Temple Mattan in Anantnag, Kheer Bhawani, Tulmulla Ganderbal, Kheer Bhawani Tikker in Kupwara district, Badar Kali Shrine in Handwara, Baba Reshi Shrine in Tangmarg, health resorts of Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Kokernag, Veerinag Achabal, world famous Wullar and Dal lakes and other places.
The tour was arranged by Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Raman Bhalla as a goodwill gesture on the recommendations of Relief Commissioner, R K Pandita.
As a move to strengthen the ties of majority community of Valley and the displaced Pandits the team interacted with school children of various schools of Kashmir valley during their visit at Mattan and other places.
The team was given a warm send off by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Farooq Ahmed Shah. Though, Kashmir being their ancestral place these children had not visited the Valley after the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1989-90. The team was accompanied by Shiban Ji, A K Bhat and in charge teachers of camp schools.
The tour was organized by the Relief organization as a pre-emptive move to set the Government’s return process in motion.
