JAMMU, Mar 25: The 7th Academic Council meeting of GCW Parade was held under the chairmanship of Dr Hemla Aggarwal, the Principal of college.
The meeting was attended by Seema Shekhar, Advocate, Prof MK Jyoti, all HoDs, other nominated members, convener IQAC, members of IQAC and Dr Sonia Khajuria member secretary.
After having threadbare discussion on each and every agenda item, the council confirmed and approved most of the items listed on agenda.
Council approved the regulations for hostel, distribution of prizes to outstanding students in the field of sports, cultural activities, NSS, NCC, literary and dramatics. Council also approved that college can invite sponsorships for scholarships to be offered to the meritorious students. It was resolved that the gold medal be awarded to the Ist position holders in each course of study–Arts, Science, Commerce and BCA at UG and PG levels.
It was resolved to constitute an Ethical Committee for which names of the members were approved. Council also approved to start short term courses in GST, Accounts, Income Tax, Beauty and Wellness and recommended Public Administration subject to be introduced. The implementation of MHRD scheme for Higher Education Youth in apprenticeship and skills (SHREYAS) for providing industry apprenticeship opportunities to students was also approved by the council.
Chairperson Dr Hemla Aggarwal proposed small research projects be assigned to students in order to inculcate scientific temperament in them. She further urged that each department should have a club so that students can upgrade their skills by joining those clubs. She also informed that the outstanding work in the field of research by the teachers and students will be duly recognized and awarded.
She laid stress on generation of e-content and publication of good quality research work by the faculty.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair. The meeting was conducted by member Secretary Dr Sonia Khajuria.
