71 people booked in Samba for violating COVID SOPs

SAMBA, June 22: Samba police in a joint drive with district civil administration against the violators of COVID appropriate behavior and SOPs, booked 71 persons across the district and imposed fine to the tune of Rs.35,500 on them.
In order to enforce COVID SOPs and to ensure that the people of district Samba follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) during the relaxation hours, the various joint teams of Samba police and district civil administration during day long drive have booked 71 persons including shopkeepers and bus drivers found violating the COVID SOPs and guidelines.
Police said 57 persons were fined for not wearing face masks in the public places and bazars while 10 persons including shopkeepers were challaned for not maintaining social distance.
It said four persons were fined for spitting in public places and one bus was seized by PS Bari-Brahmana for violating COVID norms which was overloaded exceeding permitted capacity of passengers.
During the drive, face masks were also distributed by Samba police to infuse a sense of responsibility among the violators to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
Samba Police has appealed people to wear face masks when stepping out from their home and maintain strict to COVID Appropriate Behaviour as these are the key preventive measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. People are further advised to maintain social distancing and personal hygiene.
