SRINAGAR, May 14: The police seized seven tractors involved in illegal extraction of minor minerals during separate enforcement actions across Tral and Reshipora areas of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police spokesperson said the action was taken as part of ongoing efforts to curb unauthorized mining activities in the region.
In the first incident, he said, Police Station Tral detected illegal mining in Gamraz area during routine patrolling and seized four tractors, allegedly being used for the unlawful extraction of minerals on the spot.
In a separate operation, Police Post Reshipora seized three more tractors involved in similar activities in the Reshipora area, the spokesperson said.
The police said coordinated enforcement reflects a continued drive against illegal mining, which authorities say causes environmental damage and revenue losses.
