POONCH, May 26: A joint team of Police and Romeo Force today foiled an attempt of narcotics smuggling by arresting an inter-State smuggler and recovering 7 kg poppy straw from his possession.
The poppy straw was being smuggled from Srinagar in a Toyota vehicle, which was intercepted this morning at 10.30 a.m. during routine checking on the Mughal Road under the jurisdiction of Surankot Police Station. The accused namely Raghvir Singh son of Karamchand of Balachaur, Dist Nawashehar, Punjab, was hiding poppy husk in his personal baggage, while travelling in a shared taxi Toyota Etios from Srinagar to Jammu.
Police also detained all three passengers of the Taxi and driver for questioning besides registering a case in this connection.
