7 gamblers arrested, Rs 50,500 stake money recovered

SAMBA, Oct 29: District police Samba has arrested seven gamblers in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba and PS Bari Brahmana and recovered stake money of Rs 50,500 from their possession.
Acting on specific information regarding gambling, police team of PS Samba raided the gambling spot near Supwal and arrested three gamblers namely Rakesh Kumar, S/o Girdhari Lal, R/o W. No. 13 Vijaypur, Mohd. Parvez ,S/o Feroz Din, R/o Rajinderpura, Samba and Sandeep Singh, S/o Thoru Ram Chib, R/o Satwari, Jammu along with stake money of Rs 47,500 and 04 sets of playing cards. Taking cognizance of the matter, all the gamblers were booked under Section 13 of Gambling Act at PS Samba.
In another similar incident, police party of PS Bari Brahmana while performing the patrolling duty in Birpur area caught four persons gambling red-handed in open area. The accused persons were identified as Kewak Krishan, S/o Chiru Ram, Taqdir Singh, S/o Vijay Singh, Ravi Kumar, S/o Mani Ram and Rohit Rana ,S/o Rakesh Kumar all residents of Birpur, Bari Brahmana. They have been arrested along with stake money of Rs. 3000/- and a set of playing cards.
Taking cognizance into the matter, all the gamblers were booked under Section 13 of Gambling Act at PS Bari Brahmana.
