UDHAMPUR/ RAMBAN, Nov 8: The police seized at least 68 bovine animals in Ramban and Udhampur area during special nakas on the highway during past 24 hours.
Official sources said that on the direction of SSP Ramban, Anita Sharma, a police party led by incharge PS Ramban, SI Fareed Ahmed laid a surprise Naka near Shan Palace, Ramban. During checking two Tata mobile vehicles and two trucks were signaled to stop for checking, on the search of the vehicles bovine animals were being found loaded and illegally transported towards Kashmir. All the 54 bovine animals have been rescued and four bovine smugglers arrested. Moreover, the vehicles have also been seized.
In this regard, case FIR No. 177/2018 U/S 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act, 178/2018 U/S 188 RPC ,and 3 PCA Act 179/2018 U/S 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act and 180/2018 U/S 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act stands registered at Police Station Ramban.
Meanwhile, 14 bovine animals were seized by police at Jakhani near Udhampur and Tikri on National Highway last night.
Official sources said that Police party of Police Station Udhampur led by Sanjeev Chib SHO, under the supervision of DySP Zahid Wani laid naka at Jakhani for checking of vehicles.
During checking police party intercepted one truck bearing registration No. JK05B -0810 and found 12 bovine animals loaded in it. It was moving towards Kashmir. All the bovine animals were rescued on spot and the accused driver namely Mohd Azam, Mohd Akbar , resident of Nowgam, District Anantnag along with Mohd Samoon, son of Mohd Yaqoob, resident of RS Pura, Jammu were arrested on spot.
In this connection a case FIR No. 551 /2018 U/S 188 RPC 3PCA Act has been registered.
In another case, Police party from Rehambal and Tikri and led by Insp Paramjeet Singh SHO PS Rehambal assisted by SI Pawan Dogra IC PP Tikri during naka seized two bovine animals. Two persons Ghulam Rasool, son of Mohd Sharif and Saleem Mohd, son of Hakam Din from Udhampur were arrested in this connection.
In this connection, a case FIR No.171 /2018 U/S 188, RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehmbal and further investigation is going on.
