64 test +ve, 100% vaccination target in GMC

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Jan 25: Sixty four persons today tested positive for COVID-19 while no casualties were reported from the virus in Jammu and Kashmir as 83 persons recovered.
On the other, the COVID vaccination drive intensified in the Jammu region with Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and SMGS Hospital achieving 100 percent target during last four days while the vaccination was also launched in the BSF Hospital and Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission.
GMC Jammu Principal Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma today also got the COVID jab.
Dr Sharma said during past four days, the GMC Jammu and SMGS Hospital have been achieving 100 percent vaccination target. In view of this, she added, the vaccination target in the SMGS hospital has been increased from 100 to 150 per day.
“Following successful vaccination with no side-effects, there was now enthusiasm among health workers to get the shot,’’ she said.
The vaccination drive was also launched in Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission, Ambphalla today where 68 persons got the shot. Amar Chand Gupta, BB Gupta, BL Jamwal, Subash Gupta and Hospital Administrator Dr Romesh Gupta were present when the vaccination drive started in the hospital. Health workers only got the vaccine in the first phase.
Vaccination also started in the BSF Hospital at Frontier Headquarters Jammu in the presence of NS Jamwal, IG and Karnail Singh, Commandant (Medical). The health workers got the vaccine.
Meanwhile, 25 persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in the Jammu region, 23 of them alone in Jammu district and one each at Udhampur and Ramban districts while rest of seven districts didn’t report any fresh case today.
Seventeen persons recovered from the virus in the Jammu region including 11 in Jammu district, four Ramban and one each in Udhampur and Kathua districts. No recoveries were reported from rest of the districts.
Jammu region now has 51446 Corona cases including 412 active and 50315 recoveries. There have been 719 casualties.
Meanwhile, 39 people today tested positive for COVID-19 in Kashmir.
Those who tested positive include 22 Srinagar, one Baramulla, one Budgam, seven Pulwama, three Kupwara, one Anantnag, three Ganderbal and one from Shopian.
As per officials figures, 26,040 positive cases including 453 deaths and 25,320 recoveries are from Srinagar, 8,085 including 173 deaths and 7,862 recoveries are from Baramulla, 7,752 including 7,582 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Budgam, 5,700 including 5,552 recoveries and 88 deaths are from Pulwama, 5,645 including 95 deaths and 5,552 recoveries are from Kupwara, 4,879 including 4,746 recoveries and 84 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,687 cases including 4,603 and 61 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,597 including 4,483 recoveries and 46 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,689 including 2,605 recoveries and 54 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,563 including 2,491 recoveries and 39 deaths are from Shopian.
With fresh case the number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 72,637 including 70,755 recoveries and 1,210 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,084 including 672 from Kashmir division.
With 83 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 121,070 which, is 97.58 percent of the total cases.
No fresh COVID positive cases were reported from the UT of Ladakh today.
