JAMMU, Jan 20: Sixty one Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) are functioning in the rented accommodation in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir during the past one decade.
This was informed by Minister for Education in a written reply to the question of BJP MLA from Doda Shakti Raj Parihar in the Legislative Assembly today.
“There are 99 KGBVs in the State out of which 15 buildings are completed”, the Minister said, adding “57 KGBV buildings were abandoned due to cost escalation”.
“Out of these 57 KGBVs, nine buildings have been taken up during 2017-18 and are under progress”, the Minister said, adding “27 KGBV buildings have yet not been taken up due to cost escalation”.
He informed the House that efforts were being made to work out the source of additionality of Rs 33.73 crore (Rs 27.63 crore for completion of abandoned KGBVs and Rs 6.10 crore for completion of 27 not taken up buildings”).
