JAMMU, Oct 25: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, Y P Bourney today awarded six years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 25000 each to Asha Ram and Ramesh Kumar, both sons of Bishan Dass of Chagra district Jammu, who were facing trial for the last 15 years in attempt to murder case.
According to the police case, on December 11, 1997 the accused persons inflicted severe injuries on Ashok Kumar with sharp edged weapons over a land dispute. Accordingly, a case was registered and after completion of investigation challan was presented.
After hearing Additional Public Prosecutor Harpal Singh for the State, 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, Y P Bourney observed, “prosecution has proved the case and both the convicts are, therefore, ordered to undergo rigorous imprisonment for five years under Section 307 RPC and also fine of Rs 25000 each”.
They were further sentenced to undergo one year RI under 4/25 Arms Act.
