6 Panchayats demand tehsil headquarter at Central place

JAMMU, Feb 22: The people of six Panchayats in Dachan Kishtwar have expressed concern over denial of tehsil status to them and accused the Government of preferring three Panchayats while ignoring the majority area.
The residents of the six Panchayats in Dachan said Panchayat Janakpora was centre place which deserved tehsil status but the authorities rejecting the demand of majority of the people of the area gave preference to three Panchayats. Rajesh Kumar a social activist, Bansi Lal another local resident, Sachin Dhar and Pawan Kumar today said that this is totally injustice with the people of six Panchayats of the area who constitute majority of the population deserving district status.
They said the people are on protest and have started dharna in the area and they will be forced to launch agitation in case the demand was not conceded immediately.
They said Ashok Kumar, Mansoor Ahmed , Mohammed Ashraf, Mohammed Akbar, Nirmala Devi and Mohammed Yousuf all social and political activists are on dharna in protest against the decision.
