Food Safety team challans 18 for unhygienic conditions

JAMMU, Feb 22: The Food Safety wing of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), J&K today challaned 18 food business operators for not maintaining proper sanitary and hygienic conditions in their premises.
To ensure that safe and nutritious food is served to the customers, a Food Safety team of Food and Drugs Administration headed by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Municipal Limits Jammu, inspected several food establishments in and around Jammu city randomly.
During the course of inspection, 18 food establishments were found processing and serving food in insanitary and unhygienic conditions to the customers and accordingly they were challaned by the inspecting team under FSSA 56.
The food business operators which were challaned include M/s Royal Fast Food (Canal Road), M/s Celebration Gallery, M/s Sharma Milk Shop and M/s Khan A-one Halal Meat Shop at Durga Nagar, M/s Ashok Tea Stall (Barnai Road), M/s Madeena Hilal Meat Shop and M/s Bismulaha Halal Meat Shop (Paloura), Sharma Tea Stall & Vegetables, Parvat Kumar Vegetables, Jaipal Singh Chicken Eggs Store, Kashmiri Bakery, Jatinder Fish Corner and Ravi Chicken & Eggs Store in Janipur area, Ashraf Restaurant, Bismilla Nanwai, Beigh Restaurant, Shameem Muslim Dhaba and Shahi Darbar Dabha (Upkar Plaza).
The team comprising Food Safety officers Ajay Khajuria, Saba Rasool, Parvez Ahmed and Daleep Kumar also lifted samples of turmeric powder, ghee and milk from some food establishments and sent the same to Food Testing Lab for checking adulteration if any.
