40 security men among 197 test +ve

SRINAGAR, July 4 : Kashmir reported six more deaths of COVID-19 positive persons taking the Jammu and Kashmir death toll to 127 while 197 people including 40 security force personnel tested positive in the Valley.
A 75-year-old COVID-19 positive woman from Srinagar died at SMHS hospital in Srinagar today.  She was suffering from multiple problems including hypertension. She was already in very critical condition. A resident of Mukhdoom Sahib Srinagar, she was admitted to the hospital on July 3.
A day after his death, sample of an 80-year-old man from Baramulla tested positive for the COVID-19, today.  The man was admitted to the SKIMS hospital in Srinagar on Friday as a case of sepsis with Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS).
His COVID-19 sampling was done yesterday but he expired last evening. His body was kept in mortuary and his sample tested positive this morning.
A 75-year-old man from Dialgam in district Anantnag died in SKIMS Soura today. He was admitted to the hospital on July 1 and tested positive for COVID-19.  He was a case of bilateral community acquired pneumonia with Type1 respiratory failure and died this morning.
A 65-year-old man from Alastang area of Ganderbal also died at SKIMS hospital in Soura today six days after he was admitted to the hospital. He was suffering from dementia with type 1 respiratory failure with Encephalopathy and Urosepsis.
A 65-year-old man from Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district died in SKIMS Medical College hospital Bemina here today. He was shifted from SKIMS Soura last night. He was suffering from Pneumonia and hypertension. He was in ICU and died of cardiac arrest in the wee hours today.
A 55-year-old man from Magam area of Tangmarg in district Baramulla died last night at Chest Diseases hospital here. He had appendicular lump and bilateral pneumonia.
With these deaths, 127 COVID-19 positive patients have died in in J&K with 113 from the Valley and 14 from Jammu.
Srinagar district with 30 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla 22, Kulgam 16, Shopian 13, ten each in Budgam and Anantnag,  Kupwara 7 and Pulwama four, while one death each has been reported from Bandipora and Ganderbal.
And 197 people including at least 40 CRPF personnel today tested positive for novel coronavirus taking the total number of the cases in J&K to 8246.
Among them 57, were reported from Baramulla, Shopian 46, Srinagar 33, Budgam 26, Pulwama 17, Kulgam 2, Kupwara seven, Bandipora five and four in Anantnag.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that 1883 samples were processed at the viral diagnostic laboratory of the hospital and 85 tested positive for the virus.
Among them, 40 are from CRPF Battalions, 14 from Pulwama, 13 from Shopian, six from Srinagar, three from Baramulla, two each from Anantnag, Kulgam, Bandipora and one from Kupwara.
Principal SKIMS Bemina, Dr Riyaz Untoo, told Excelsior that out of 395 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 37 tested positive for COVID-19 and includes 26 from Budgam and Srinagar 11.
An official said that 75 people tested positive for the COVID-19 at Virology lab of the Chest Diseases hospital Srinagar.
The official said that 48 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir Valley.
