3 ITBP jawans, father-daughter, hotel staffer among 30 test +ve

Third employee of soft drinks company reports +ve

JAMMU, July 4: A man and his daughter, staffer of a quarantine hotel, three ITBP jawans and third employee of a soft drinks company at Bari Brahamna were among 30 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 in the Jammu region today while 20 Corona patients were treated and discharged.
The Union Territory of Ladakh reported four more COVID cases.
A staffer of a hotel at Jewel Chowk, which was being used as quarantine centre and his SPO contact, tested positive for COVID-19 today. The 49-year-old employee of the hotel tested positive during sampling of the staffers as the hotel was being used as the quarantine centre for quite some time. A Special Police Officer (SPO) from Akhnoor, who had visited the hotel and met the staff member, has also reported positive. Both of them were today shifted to COVID hospital.
A 50-year-old private company employee of Bari Brahamna and his 20-year-old daughter, residents of Paloura reported COVID positive this evening. A 27-year-old police constable from Qazibad, Kupwara in Kashmir who had returned to duty here after availing leave has also reported positive for the virus.
Other positive cases of Jammu include 60-year-old woman from Talab Tillo with travel history of Gurgaon, Haryana, 20-year-old female from Narwal and 38-year-old male from Talab Tillo.
Barring quarantine hotel staffer and SPO, all other positives of Jammu district were under administrative quarantine.
A total of 12 persons, seven of whom were travelers, tested positive in Jammu district.
Ten persons including another employee of a soft drinks company at Bari Brahamna tested positive in Samba district, SSP Samba Shakti Pathak said.
This was the third employee of soft drinks company to become positive for COVID-19.
SDPO Bari Brahamna Sunil Kesar and SHO Inspector Arjun Singh Chib have been constantly monitoring sampling of employees of the soft drinks company. So far, 401 employees of the company have been sampled for COVID-19. The company remained shut though massive sanitization operation there is on.
Of 10 positives in Samba, seven belonged to other districts, Pathak said, adding that all those under administrative quarantine have been shifted from the quarantine centres to COVID facilities.
Four persons today tested positive in Rajouri district including three jawans of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli said.
He added that all three positive ITBP jawans belonged to Haryana and had returned to duty in Rajouri district after availing leave. Fourth positive of the district was a civilian hailing from Samba but presently putting up in Rajouri with no travel history.
A Selection Grade Police Constable from 20th battalion of Indian Reserve Police (IRP), a resident of Gulpur in Poonch district has reported Corona positive. He had returned home from his duty at Budgam and was under quarantine when he tested positive, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said.
Two persons tested positive for the virus in Udhampur district including a 35-year-old man from Udhampur with travel history of New Delhi and 34-year-old from Ramnagar.
In Doda district, a 34-year-old man from village Gujasa in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district has reported positive for the virus.
Kathua, Ramban, Reasi and Kishtwar districts didn’t report any Corona cases today.
As per the official figures, Jammu region now has total 1722 Corona cases but only 434 are active. There have been 1274 recoveries and 14 deaths in the region.
As many as 20 patients were today discharged from various COVID hospitals in Jammu region including six each in Jammu and Samba, three in Rajouri, two each in Udhampur and Poonch and one in Doda district.
Eight COVID patients were last night discharged from Chest Diseases Hospital in Bakshi Nagar, Medical Superintendent, Dr Rajeshwar Sharma said.
Meanwhile, four Corona positive cases were today reported in the Union Territory of Ladakh including three in Leh and one in Kargil district.
With this, Ladakh now has 1005 Corona positive cases including 291 in Leh and 714 in Kargil. Of them, there are only 178 active cases—87 in Leh and 91 in Kargil as 826 patients have been treated and discharged from various hospitals, 203 in Leh and 623 in Kargil.
There was just one Corona casualty in Ladakh.
Of total positives, 12 were admitted in COVID Hospitals, 165 were in home isolation and one in COVID Care Centre.
