6 injured, one missing in avalanche

SRINAGAR, Apr 26:  At least six persons were injured and one has gone missing after avalanche struck the Srinagar-Leh National Highway near Gumri today.
A police spokesman said a Tata Mobile (Chasis number MAT- 374Y-6639-BO-4665) rolled down into a gorge when it was hit by an avalanche between Gumri to Mianmarg near Shetani Nallah, Kargil.
One person Gulzar Ahmad Kaloo son of Abdul Rahim resident of Sumbal Sonarwari is reported to be missing. Police and Army have started the rescue operation but could not be traced the missing due to darkness. Two other persons Javid Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Majid and Abdul Haleem Wani son of Abdul Rehman Wani resident of Sumbal, Inderkote travelling in the vehicle recived minor injuries and were hospitalized at TCP Mianmarg.
Police said that two more trucks (bearing registration number JK03B/0718 and JK03/8911) were also hit by the avalanches in which driver Shabir Ahmad son of Abdul Rehman  resident of Chattabal Srinagar, and driver Sameer Ahmad Khan son of Mehrajudin Khan resident of Lalmandi Srinagar and two others Sameer Ahmad Khan son of Late Ghulam Qadir resident of Batamaloo, Srinagar, and Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohudin Sheikh resident of Bemina Hamdania Colony, Srinagar, received minor injured. All the injured have been shifted to Army Hospital, Gumri for treatment.
