JAMMU, June 9: Gangyal police today rescued six bovine animals while the smugglers managed to escape from the spot.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police team from Gangyal police station headed by SHO Jasbir Singh laid a naka near Bandu Rakh area and intercepted a Mahindra vehicle bearing registration number JK13C-2388, which was on its way from Bishnah to Kanjwani.
On seeing the police party, the bovine smugglers fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle.
During search of the vehicle, police rescued six bovine animals.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Gangyal police station and investigation started.
