4 JeM militants manage to escape, operation extended to other areas in Tral woods

SRINAGAR: Four foreign militants belonging to Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) managed to escape after firing indiscriminately at a security force search party in the woods of Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.

However, a police spokesman said on Friday evening that reinforcement has been rushed and the search operation has been extended to other areas in Tral woods.

He said a JeM militant, Gulzar Ahmad Dar, who carried out a grenade attack on Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar’s motorcade at Tral in Pulwama, was arrested in south Kashmir.

The spokesman said Dar, during questioning, revealed that his four associates, all foreign militants, were hiding in a hideout in Pastuna forest Tral. (AGENCIES)
