Biggest achievement in history of Jammu Police: SSP

JAMMU, Mar 11: In a very rare and biggest achievement in the history of Jammu Police, two drivers were arrested alongwith 53 kilograms of high quality cannabis during checking on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
This was stated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Shridhar Patil while interacting with media persons here today.

Divulging the details, SSP informed that on specific information, a SOG team led by SI Shabir Kohli along with SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Rajesh Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma laid a naka at Ban Suketar and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02V-8028 to stop for checking.
Sensing trouble, the driver stopped the truck mid-way and ran towards jungle area, Patil said, adding that after a hard chase, the alert cops apprehended the driver, who was identified as Iqbal Singh, son of Narian Singh, a resident of Tehsil Vijaypur, District Samba.
During checking, 51 kilograms of high grade cannabis (charas) was recovered from the truck, SSP said, adding that a case under FIR Number 62/2020 under sections 8/20/25 NDPS Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons associated with this illegal trade.
Meanwhile, a SOG team led by SI Arjun Magotra along with SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma laid a naka at Ban toll Plaza and intercepted a Tavera car bearing registration number JK12-9727, SSP Shridhar Patil said, adding that on thorough search of the vehicle, police team recovered 2 kilograms of high quality cannabis and arrested the driver, who was identified as Asif Hussain, son of Habibullah, a resident of Bijbehara, District Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 124/2020 under section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation initiated, SSP said, adding that in total, 53 kilograms of high quality cannabis was recovered, which is the highest ever recovery in a single day in the history of Jammu Police.
Both the operations were closely monitored by SSP SOG Sandeep Kumar Mehta and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
