JAMMU, July 28: Despite inclement weather conditions 5,403 pilgrims performed darshan at holy cave of Swami Amarnath on day 31th of yatra today from both Baltal and Chandanwari tracks.
According to an official spokesman, with this the total number of pilgrims performing darshan in cave shrine has touched 3,46, 752 since the yatra started on June 28.
The spokesman said the yatra proceeded smoothly despite cloudy weather and downpour in the evening on yatra tracks.
He said 1880 pilgrims left via Baltal track to holy cave this morning. They included 810 pilgrims who left via chopper. Besides 1487 pilgrims left via Chandanwari track from Nunwan base camp to holy cave early in the morning, he added.
The spokesman said one pilgrim died late last night at holy cave due to cardiac arrest. He was identified as Jagtat Ramesh, 64, S/o Shanker of Budli Nagar, Maharashtra.
With this the total number of pilgrims who died during ongoing yatra has mounted to 33. They included four people including two yatris and two sewarads who died in a cylinder blast at Dumel (Baltal) few days back, he added.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 460 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar, Yatri Niwas for holy cave under tight security early this morning. They included 244 male, 113 female, three children and 100 Sadhus. All these pilgrims had reached their respective destinations in Kashmir valley when last reports came in wherefrom they will leave for holy cave early tomorrow morning.
