50 kanal forest land retrieved, timber seized

JAMMU, May 18: In two separate operations the Forest Department officials retrieved 50 kanal Government land in Nowshera area while 11 big logs of (Kail) timber were seized in Bhaderwah area today.
Official sources said that a forest officials’ team, led by DFO Nowshera under the supervision of CF West Sameer Bharti organised anti-encroachment operation and got 25 kanal area cleared from the possession of land grabbers in Dhalian–Rajal area of Nowshera. They had also raised two tin structures in the Forest land. One Mohd Farooq, son of Mohd Qasim had grabbed this Forest land.
In Lamberi Range of Nowshera Forest division another 25 kanal area was got cleared from the possession of some locals under Compartment No. 157/ N, 10/N and 12/N of Lamberi. Total seven persons had encroached upon this area. Despite resistance by the land grabbers, the Forest team cleared the area and got it fenced. They have been booked under Forest Act.
Meanwhile, another Forest team led by DFO Bhaderwah T B Singh during an operation in Compartment No. 51 of Bhales Range, seized 11 big logs of kail- wood from the possession of Gulfam Bhat, Abdul Majid and Mangto Bhat, all residents of Julla in Gandoh.
A case was registered in this regard against the accused persons. The DFO also initiated inquiry against the local field staff of the department.
