UDHAMPUR, Aug 13: Continuing its offensive under the supervision of SSP Rajiv Pandey against the spread of narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances, Udhampur Police apprehended five narcotic smugglers and seized 200 grams of heroin as well as a sharp edged weapon from their possession.
Reports said that during patrolling and surprise checking of vehicles at Sangoor Chowk on NHW-44, a Police party led by SHO Udhampur Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur and Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur, intercepted one vehicle XUV bearing registration number JK14C- 8361.
During search , 190 grams of Heroin alongwith one sharp edged Weapon (Toka) was recovered from the possession of the persons travelling in the vehicle. Police seized the Heroin as well as the weapon and arrested the accused, who were identified as Surinder Singh alias Goggu alias Fouji, son of Hardit Singh of Barrian, Udhampur, his son Hamraj Singh alias Tiger and one Ranbir Singh alias Rambo son of Jasveer Singh of Barrian, Udhampur.
In this connection, a case FIR number 383/2019 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS, 4/25 Arms Act has been registered in PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case is taken up.
The trio was kingpin of drugs smuggling in Udhampur and Police was trying to apprehend them red handed. Police is also working on the involvement of other narcotic smugglers in this illegal narcotic trade so that the innocent youth of Udhampur and its surrounding s could be saved from the menace of drug addiction.
In another case, Police patrolling party led by SHO Vijay Singh Choudhary, laid a naka at Dhar Road near hospital and intercepted two suspected persons who were on way towards Main Bazaar on foot. During their personal searches, 10 grams of Heroin was recovered from the accused, identified as Shoaib Shabir Bandey of Bhaderwah and Naresh Kumar of Chenani, Udhampur.
In this connection, a case FIR number 377/2019 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
