5 killed, 36 injured as dust storm hits Karachi

KARACHI: At least five persons were killed and 36 others injured in Karachi after strong winds and dust storm hit Pakistan’s biggest city, officials said on Monday.

The blustery winds have uprooted electricity poles and trees in different parts of the city, causing traffic blockages.

Rescue officials and police confirmed the death of five persons and injuries to dozens in different parts of Karachi as the Met office forecast rains and more dust storms and gutsy winds for the next 48 hours.

Faisal Edhi of the Edhi welfare trust said that many of the deaths and injuries have been caused by the blustery winds and dust storms uprooting electricity poles and trees in different areas on Monday. (AGENCIES)
