5 Kashmiri youth detained with fake USD currency notes

JAMMU, May 20: Police in Sidhra area here on the city outskirts said today they have detained 5 Kashmiri youth who were found in possession of 5 bundles of fake US Dollar currency notes.
A police official said all the accused were staying in the residence of one of the youth from Shopian, who was presently putting up at Sidhra.
“There (Sidhra), they were luring people to purchase the fake US Dollar currency notes at cheaper prices,” he said.
The police official said they were caught after they tried to run in a suspicious manner on seeing a Police team along with the Special Operation Group (SOG) patrolling on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
On their search, five bundles of the fake US Dollar currency notes were recovered, he said.
According to the police official, all the accused youth, identified as Naseer Ahmed of Shopian at present Sidhra, Abdul Rashid of Kulgam, Mohammad Ishaq Lone of Sopore, Mohammad Iqbal Shah of Anantnag, and Mohammad Farooq of Ganderbal, have been arrested and booked in case FIR number 154/2024 under Section 489(c) and 34 IPC registered at Police Station Nagrota.
He, however, said that the fake currency notes were recovered from two youth only i.e. 3 bundles from Naseer Ahmed Shah and two bundles from Abdul Rashid.
Further investigation into the case is underway, added the police official.
