5 houses gutted in Khour Forest fire

JAMMU, May 27: Five houses in a border village of Khour tehsil of district Jammu were completely gutted a major forest fire last mid night.
Official sources said that massive forest fire at village Chaprial in Samwan area of Pallanwalla LoC belt caused havoc during last mid night.  Scores of families spent sleepless night.  Thatched houses of five villagers also came in the grip of Forest fire and all  the structures were completely razed into ashes.
The villagers, however, managed to save their cattle but their belongings were completely gutted. The Army jawans from nearby camp and police later rushed to the area and managed to save some of the houses. The people whose houses were gutted were identified as Ramesh Lal Sharma, Bodh Raj, Yash Pal Sharma, Dhanni Ram and Ashok Kumar.
While no senior Govt official visited the affected villagers the Army authorities provided them temporary shelter, some articles/ beds etc and food today.
