5 girls surrender in BOPEE case

SRINAGAR, Aug 12: Five girls who were the beneficiaries of the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) paper scam today surrendered before the Anti-corruption court in Srinagar and they were sent to Central Jail Srinagar for judicial custody.
These girls were selected in the MBBS course in Government Medical College Srinagar in 2013 by fraudulent means. Crime Branch had issued arrest warrant against them but they were evading arrest.
These girls had applied for bail before the Jammu and Kashmir High Court but it had rejected their plea and had declared them as proclaimed offenders.
They were asked to cooperate with the investigation agency but they failed and finally surrendered before the Anti-corruption court here.
With these arrests so far 60 accused, including the king pin, the then BOPEE chairman, Mushtaq Ahmad Peer, were arrested by Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
