5 gamblers arrested with Rs 9,000 stake money

JAMMU, Jan 23: Nowabad police arrested five gamblers along with Rs 9,000 stake money and playing cards.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Nowabad Police Station conducted raid in a hotel at Jewel and apprehended five gamblers along with Rs 9,000 stake money and playing cards. Police also recovered Rs 20,000 from the personal search of the gamblers, which was supposed to be used in gambling.
The arrested persons have been identified as Feroze Ahmed Khan, Mohammad Ashraf, Ashfaq Ahmed, Abid Hussain and Nisar Ahmed, all residents of Srinagar.
Action warranted under Section 13 Gambling Act has been initiated against the gamblers by Nowabad Police.
Police team led by SHO Nowabad Inspector Neeraj Bhagat made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Pranav Mahajan and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
