DODA, May 8: Police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered cannabis from their possession.
As per police sources, a police team headed by DySP Headquarters Doda Jaswant Singh and assisted by SHO Doda Inspector Arun Parkash Sharma under the supervision of SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmed laid a naka at Khellani and intercepted a vehicle.
The boarders of this vehicle tried to evade police frisking and started to behave suspiciously after which the vehicle was put to thorough frisking.
During frisking, police team recovered 860 grams cannabis from the possession of five persons travelling in the car and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Ikhlaq Ahmed, son of Mohammad Azim Wani, a resident of Bhalla Bhaderwah, Abid Iqbal, son of Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Bhalla Bhaderwah, Mohammad Amin, son of Shafqat Ullah, a resident of Rishupora Bhalla Bhaderwah, Ashiq Ahmed, son of Abdul Latief Sheikh, a resident of Bhalla Bhaderwah and Manjeet Raj, son of Shadi Lal, a resident of Drudu, Bhaderwah.
A case under FIR Number 75/21 under Section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
