Srinagar, Jan 31: Five persons who were suffering from COVID-19 infection died in Kashmir today while the number of fresh positive cases declined and only 1,576 tested positive for the infection.
With five deaths in Kashmir, the toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 4,674. Those who died include 3 from Srinagar and one each from Budgam and Pulwama.
Among the dead, 70-year old Abdul Rashid Shah who was comorbid was undergoing treatment at Chest Diseases Hospital in Srinagar; 26-year old Shugufta Bhat was also comorbid and was undergoing treatment at SKIMS; 80-year old Hafeeza Bano of Nowpora Srinagar was also comorbid and was undergoing treatment at Chest Diseases Hospital in Srinagar; 60-year old Khatija Bano of Sozeith in district Budgam and Tariq Ahmad Bhat of Khrew in district Pulwama were suffering from pneumonia and were undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital in Srinagar.
Those who tested positive include 391 from Srinagar, 210 from Baramulla, 172 from Budgam, 84 from Pulwama, 225 from Kupwara, 138 from Anantnag, 171 from Bandipora, 18 from Ganderbal, 140 from Kulgam and 27 Shopian.
As per officials figures, 99,077 cases including 900 deaths and 87,078 recoveries are from Srinagar, 36,465 including 302 deaths and 31,263 recoveries are from Baramulla, 33,725 including 31,065 recoveries and 227 deaths are from Budgam, 18,055 including 17,088 recoveries and 200 deaths are from Pulwama, 20,473 including 171 deaths and 19,128 recoveries are from Kupwara, 21,808 including 19,250 recoveries and 216 deaths are from Anantnag, 13,310 cases including 12,328 and 112 deaths are from Bandipora, 13,245 including 12,283 recoveries and 84 deaths are from Ganderbal, 15,651 including 13,428 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Kulgam and 6,138 including 5,854 recoveries and 59 deaths are from Shopian.
With the fresh cases, the number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 277,947 including 248,765 recoveries and 2,389 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 36,372 including 26,793 from Kashmir division.
With 6,433 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 394,379 which is 90.57 percent of the total cases.
