5 Corona deaths in J&K, 2 in Ladakh; 471 new cases

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LE, Nov 29: Five persons died of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir including three in Jammu and two in the Valley while 471 persons tested positive for the virus and 491 others recovered.
A 65-year-old man from Udhampur and 77-year-old hailing from Old Rehari in Jammu district died of co-morbidities and COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu while 73-year-old from Sailan Talab in Udhampur died of ailments and virus in the Narayana Hospital Katra.
Former Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu Principal Dr Nasib Chand Digra, who is presently posted in the Health and Medical Education Department in the Civil Secretariat and Retired Inspector General of Police (IGP) PR Manhas today tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu.
A total of 260 persons tested positive for pathogen in the Jammu region including 122 in Jammu district, 26 Udhampur and 24 Rajouri while 168 others recovered, the maximum being 104 in Jammu district and 16 in Kishtwar.
Jammu region now has 44208 Corona cases. Among them, 2360 are active positives as 41264 have recovered from the virus while there have been 584 casualties.
The Union Territory of Ladakh reported two Corona fatalities and 56 new cases.
One COVID death each was reported from Leh and Kargil districts talking the toll to 116-74 in Leh and 42 in Kargil. Among 56 new cases, 44 were reported from Leh and 12 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, two persons died of COVID in Kashmir while 211 tested positive.
Today’s victims include a 65-year-old man from Noorbagh Baramulla and a 75-year-old woman from Handwara.
With these deaths, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1101.
Srinagar district with 416 deaths topped the list followed by Baramulla 163, Budgam 100, Pulwama 86, Kupwara 83, Anantnag 78, Bandipora 50, Kulgam 50, Ganderbal 38 and Shopian 37.
In Kashmir, 211 persons including three doctors tested positive today.
Srinagar reported 86 cases, Baramulla 31, Budgam 21, Pulwama 16, Kupwara 14, Anantnag 12, Bandipora 15, Ganderbal 6, Kulgam 1 and Shopian 9.
With these fresh COVID cases, Srinagar has now 22975 positive cases with 1165 active, 21394 recovered, 416 deaths; Baramulla has 7437 positive cases with 323 active, 6951 recovered, 163 deaths; Budgam reported 6876 positive cases with 255 active cases, 6521 recovered, 100 deaths; Pulwama has 5087 positive cases with 147 active, 4854 recoveries, 86 deaths; Kupwara has 5192 positive cases with 242 active, 4867 recovered and 83 deaths; Anantnag district has 4546 positive cases with 131 active, 4337 recovered, 78 deaths; Bandipora has 4410 positive cases with 145 active and 4215 recoveries, 50 deaths; Ganderbal has 4184 positive cases with 194 active, 3952 recoveries, 38deaths; Kulgam has 2591 positive cases with 51 active, 2490 recoveries and 50 deaths while as Shopian has 2348 positive cases with 74 active cases, 2237 recoveries and 37 deaths.
