JAMMU, Mar 20: The 48th UT level Badminton Championship, being organised by Badminton Association of J&K (BAJK), inaugurated at Badminton Hall, Indoor Sports Complex MA Stadium, here today.
The championship was inaugurated by Additional Director General of Police, Mukesh Singh. About 250 players from different parts of J&K are participating in this championship which will culminate on March 23.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest underlined the need for more and more sports in the UT as well as in the country and appealed to them to involve more and more people in the sports for the upliftment of sports in J&K.
Dr OD Sharma, chairman BAJK, Ashok Singh (DSO), Satish Gupta (Manager), DV Sharma (Vice chairman BAJK), Balbir Jamwal (General Secretary), Dushyant Sharma (Treasurer), Rahul Sharma, Subash Sharma, Ajaz Qureshi and many others were present during the inaugural function.
In boys section under-15, Rehan Manzoor trounced Murad Tariq by 2-1, Kanhaiya got walk over Murad Tariq (Baramulla), Parnav Mehra beat Harsh Sharma by 2-0, Mohd Shehzab beat Shohrab Sharma by 2-0, Mohit Salaria got walk over Narinder, Shourya Pratham beat Devansh Kashyap by 2-0, Tanish Dogra trounced Labeeb Sefi by 2-0, Raghav Magotra defeated Bhavneet Singh by 2-0, Thakur Aneesh got better of Bevesh Bakshi by 2-0, Gopesh Singh beat Param Raina by 2-0, Soudia Mushtaq beat Farhan Manzoor by 2-0, Shourya Jasrotia defeated Salman Muzafar by 2-0, Bhavdeep Singh beat Nikhlesh Bakshi by 2-0, Shivansh Pandotra trounced Keshav Sharma by 2-0, Akhil Mangi beat Aneena by 2-0, Udhyan Sharma defeated Rounak by 2-0, Parth Sharma got better of Rekik by 2-0, Manak Gupta trounced Suresh by 2-0 and Bharat defeated Aditya Kumar by 2-0.
