NEW DELHI, Dec 2: As many as 475 posts at various levels are lying vacant at the Ministry of Corporate Affairs including Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), Parliament was informed today.
As against total 1,563 posts, 1,088 have been filled, Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
A total of 311 positions are lying vacant at Ministry of Corporate Affairs headquarter, regional offices and Registrar of Companies (RoC) and official liquidators.
However, the minister said, “it has been decided not to fill 315 posts of non-technical and non gazetted staff”, at these institutions.
Besides, 87 posts are vacant at fair trade watchdog CCI, while the same is 77 at Serious Fraud Investigation Office.
At CCI and SFIO, vacancies are for positions including Director, Joint Director, Assistant Director, Additional Director Generals, while at Ministry of Corporate Affairs, these posts are for Company Prosecutor, Investigating Officer, Clerk, Typist, Car Driver and Junior Translator among others.
CCI keeps a tab on unfair business practices across sectors and has clamped down on various anti-competitive ways, while SFIO is white collar crime investigation agency.
CCI and SFIO comes under the administrative control of the Corporate Affairs Ministry.
Last year, the regulator had raised the pay packet for experts and professionals hired by it. Now, they are eligible for 10 per cent increment after completing one year. (PTI)
