Over 47,000 voters opt for NOTA in J-K Assembly elections

SRINAGAR, Dec 23:
As many as 47,652 voters out of over 72 lakh electorate chose the None of the Above option in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the results of which were declared today.
While a total of 25,569 voters opted for None of the Above option (NOTA) in the 46 seats in Kashmir Valley, 20,855 NOTA votes were cast in the 37 constituencies of Jammu region.
In the four assembly segments of Ladakh region, 1,228 voters chose to reject all the candidates in their constituencies.
Banihal assembly segment in Ramban district of Jammu region had the highest number of NOTA votes – 2405, while Nubra in Ladakh had the lowest of 49 votes.
Lolab, Sonawari and Pahalgam assembly segments in Kashmir Valley polled the highest number of NOTA votes – 1222, 1075 and 1056 respectively.
While in Jammu region, Chenani, Ram Nagar and Ramban also had a high percentage of NOTA votes at 1185, 1048 and 1047 respectively. (AGENCIES)
