JAMMU, Mar 3: World Hearing Day was today observed in District Hospital Udhampur by the Rotary Club Jammu supported by the ENT Department of the District Hospital Udhampur. The central theme of the camp was “To hear for life, listen with care”.
The camp was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer Udhampur Dr. K.C. Dogra and was attended by Medical Superintendent District Hospital Udhampur Dr. Vijay Raina, ENT Specialist Dr. I.P. Singh, Dr. Sumeet Mahajan, Dr. Neha Mahajan and Pediatrician Dr. Deepak Kumar and District Health Officer Dr. Yaseen.
The camp was conducted by Dr. Navneet Gupta, Puneet Gupta, Dr. Gourav Vaid President Rotary Club Jammu and Sunil Sawhney, Secretary Club Jammu. In the camp, all Neonates admitted in the hospital were screened for congenital hearing disorders.
In addition, elderly patients and all patients with any hearing problem were tested.
Tests conducted in the camp included OAE & PTA. A total of 46 patients were examined and treated in the camp. In addition, the patients were made aware of the harmful effects of noise pollution and were educated about numerous methods of prevention of hearing loss.
