Srinagar, Mar 16: A medical-cum-awareness camp was organized by Army near Sharifabad Military Station on the outskirts of Srinagar which benefited over 400 patients.
A defence spokesman said the camp was organized with an aim to provide medical assistance to people from far flung villages of Durbal, Hanzik, Hazibagh and Sharifabad. “The camp was organised under supervision of four doctors from Army and civil medical department including a lady doctor,” he said.
The spokesman said a total of 470 patients including women and children benefited from the camp and were provided with free medicines, consultation and health education on personal hygiene, small family norms, nutrition, maternal and child care. The local populace was also educated on preventions from water borne disease, he said.
On the side lines of the medical camp, youth of the area were also educated on the various employment opportunities available through Army initiatives, the defence spokesman added.
