KATHUA, May 3: Four hundred bundles of wheat in Khandwal village in Chadwal area of Kathua district and Sumb village of Samba district were destroyed in separate fire incidents today.
Besides standing crop of wheat spreading over 15 kanals of land in Raya village of Samba district, 15 quintals of wheat Citra in Khand village of Kathua district and standing wheat on five kanals of land in Khort village of Kathua district were razed to ground in the fire that was reportedly caused due to short circuit today.
As per reports 200 bundles of wheat were completely destroyed in fire in Khandwal village of Chadwal area of Kathua district that was caused due to short circuit. The wheat bundles belonged to Krishan Chander of Khandwal.
Reports further said 15 quintals of Wheat Citra belonging to Ashok Kumar were damaged in the fire that broke out due to short circuit in the same village also while wheat crop spreading over five kanals of land belonging to Bram Raj and Som Raj in Khort village of Kathua district was also damaged in the fire.
In village Sumb of Samba district 200 bundles of wheat belonging to Jaswant Singh of the same village were damaged in the fire and standing crop spreading over 15 kanals of land belonging to Mohinder Singh, Bhagwan Singh and Surinder Singh respectively were damaged in the fire that reportedly broke due to short circuit.
