REASI, May 6: A road connecting to Gulabgarh in Sub-division Mahore has been blocked for the last four months but the authorities concerned have utterly failed to resume it.
As per the locals, the road was closed due to heavy landslide at Gammi Wag area of panchayat Nichoch nearly four month back. We have repeatedly requested to local as well as District Administration for its resumption but to no avail.
Locals said that since the road was closed for vehicular movement, we are facing lot of problems such as the essential and non essential commodities aren’t reaching in several adjoining villages of Gulabgarh from the Tehsil headquarter. “Due to blocking of the road, we have to trek several kilometre on their foot to reach even at local hospital to get treatment but the authority seems least bothered about it”, locals said.
When contacted to Executive Engineer PMGSY Mahore, Roshan Din, he admitted that the road was closed since January due to heavy land-sliding on this stretch and assured that in coming days the road clearance work would be started. “The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic creating hurdle to start clearance work on this blocked stretch,” he said.
