SAMBA, May 6 : A Forest Block Officer and other staff was injured as Forest Department removed encroachment on five kanals of its land and also demolished a “Kacha” structure in Compartment 13/B of Balole Forest Block, falling in Purmandal Forest Range and Samba Forest Division today.
A team led by Rakeshwar Singh, Block Forest Officer, Balole along with field staff of Balole block in supervision of Salim Malik, Range Officer Purmandal and overall supervision of Abinav Romyotra, DFO Samba today retrieved the Forest land in Purmandal area but they faced resistance from the encroacher and his family members.
Though forest team successfully retrieved the encroached land from land grabbers but Rakeshwar Singh, Block Officer with forest guards were attacked by encroachers with stones. The enchrochers made strong resistance but the forest officials remained undeterred and successfully freed the land from encroachment.
In this eviction operation Rakeshwar Singh, Block Forest Officer Balole got injured after he was hit by stone at right leg ,field staff of Balole Block also got some injuries .An FIR has been registered in Police Station Purmandal by the Forest Department and land grabbers were booked by the Department for encroaching forest land .
