4 illegal saw mills sealed in Gharota-Aghore area

JAMMU, Oct 28: The Forest team sealed four saw mills operating illegally in Gharota-Aghore area of Jammu Forest Division today.
Official sources said that the team of Forest officials led by ACF Jammu Forest Division, Ms Jyotsana (IFS), assisted by Range Officers Varinder Singh and Mohd Rafiq besides FPF staff and Ist Class Magistrate/ Naib Tehsildar Mathwar, organised a joint operation in the area and dismantled four saw mills. The team also sealed these mills and booked the owners/ operators under J&K Forest Act.
Entire operation was carried out under the supervision of DFO Jammu, Dr V S Senthil Kumar. The units belonged to Dev Raj at Baghani, Shiv Shakti Saw Mill at Thathi belonging to Banarsi Dass, Dev Raj Saw Mill at Kangar Chowk and Manoj Sharma at Gurha Pattan.
The DFO said that these saw mills were operating illegally. The premises have been sealed and the machines dismantled. There was some resistance from the operators and their staff but the situation was controlled. He said that parts of the machines, like wheels, blades, belt and Chundi etc were seized. The confiscation proceedings have been initiated under Section 26 of J&K Forest Act.
