4 held with Rs 11 lakh

JAMMU, Apr 8: Udhampur Police detained four persons including truck driver along with Rs 11 lakh cash, which was supposed to be used for election campaign.
As per police sources, on reliable information about huge cash transfer, a police team led by SHO Udhampur Police Station Inspector Vijay Choudhary and assisted by Incharge Roun Domail Police Post SI Jaswinder Singh intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK01AE-2911, which was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar.
During checking, police team recovered Rs 11 lakh cash from the truck, which was supposed to be used for election campaign and detained four persons including the truck driver.
The detained persons were identified as Imran Mehraj Batoo, son of Mehraj Din, Wasim Bashir Shera, son of Bashir Ahmed Shera and Fiaz Ahmed Khusoo, son of Late Abdul Gani Khusoo, all residents of Rainawari, Srinagar and Mohammad Aslam (driver), son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat of Nougam, Tehsil Banihal, district Ramban.
It is pertinent to mention here that in J&K, election campaign is going on and according to Model Code of Conduct a person can carry Rs 50,000 cash with him/her.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K and Income Tax Department were informed about the seizure of the cash and they have been requested for action accordingly.
