JAMMU, Apr 30: The Government today assigned charge of Principals of two Government Dental Colleges (GDCs) and two Medical Colleges (GMCs) to fill the vacancies.
Dr Parveen Akhter Lone, HoD Oral Surgery, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) Jammu and Dr Ajaz Ahmad Shah, HoD Oral Surgery GDC Srinagar will look after the charge of the Principals of their Colleges in addition to their own duties.
Dr Lone replaced Dr Rakesh Krishen Gupta while Dr Shah will take charge from Dr Riyaz Farooq, both of whom retired from the services today.

Meanwhile, Dr Rukhsana Najeeb has been appointed as the Principal of Government Medical College Anantnag, while Dr Khurshid Wani will assume the charge of Principal, GMC Handwara.
As per an order issued by the H&ME Department, Dr. Iffat Hassan has been relieved from her duties as Principal of GMC Handwara.
“In light of the retirement of Prof. (Dr.) Anjum Farhana, Acting Principal of Government Medical College, Anantnag, on 30.04.2024, and considering the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct due to the General Elections to Lok Sabha-2024, and to ensure continuous patient care at Government Medical College, Anantnag, and Government Medical College, Handwara, Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, Professor in the Department of Anaesthesiology at Government Medical College, Srinagar, is hereby assigned the responsibilities of the Principal of Government Medical College, Anantnag, until further notice,” the order said.
“Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Wani, Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at Government Medical College, Srinagar, has been assigned the charge of Principal at Government Medical College, Handwara, until further notice. Consequently, Dr. Iffat Hassan, Acting Principal of Government Medical College, Srinagar, is relieved from her duties as Principal of Government Medical College, Handwara, with immediate effect,” the order read.
