Srinagar, Sept 29: Four furniture shops were gutted in a major blaze that broke out in the Baba Demb area of Srinagar in the wee hours today
Officials said that the fire broke out from one of the shops and within no time spread to other shops situated in the market.

Soon after the fire broke out, the fire tenders from several fire stations along with the police rushed to the spot and carried out efforts to douse down the flames.
The shops that were raised to ground in the fire incident belong to Abdul Rashid Nila, Aadil Hafeez Dar, Haji Mohammad Shafi and Rouf Ahmad. They said that the fire broke out from a shed situated at the back of one of the shops and within just 20 minutes engulfed 4 shops.
One of the owners of the shop said that they have suffered damage of over 1.5 cr rupees and appealed to the administration to come to their help in times of hardships.
“The shops had beds, sofas and other furniture items stored and when the fire spread, all the items were raised to ashes leaving behind nothing; we appeal the administration to come to our rescue,” said Wasim Ahmad.
