RAJOURI, Apr 13: In a continued crackdown on drug-trafficking, the police achieved success by apprehending four drug- peddlers along with narcotic substance and a sharp-edged weapon in Rajouri area today.
Reports said a police party from Police Station Rajouri while conducting routine patrolling in Gujjar Mandi and Bhella area of Rajouri, intercepted a vehicle (Eeco) bearing registration number JK11G-3348. During checking, three persons including the driver were found onboard. They were identities as Shahraz Ahmed Malik, son of Zaffar Iqbal, resident of Sagrawar in Darhal; Razak Ahmed, son of Nazir Hussain, resident of Ward No. 2 Rajouri and Ashiq Hussain, son of Mohd Amin, resident of Dodasan Balla in Thannamandi.
During the search of the vehicle and individuals nearly 5 gms of heroin and a sharp-edged weapon (Toka), were recovered from their possession. All the accused were arrested and the recovered contraband seized by police team.
A case FIR No. 170/2026 was registered in this connection.
Meanwhile, police nabbed a known history-sheeter and drug-peddler during routine naka in Thannamandi area this evening.
A police party led by Inspector Sachinder Pal Singh during a naka at Karyote, intercepted one person identified as Imtiaz Ahmed alias Topi, son of Ali Mohammad, resident of Karyote, in Tehsil Thanamandi. Upon search, the accused was found in possession of 7 grams of heroin. He was immediately taken into custody, and the contraband seized on the spot. The accused is a known history-sheeter and drug peddler, the police said.
