Srinagar, Mar 6: Police in Kupwara today said to have booked four notorious drug peddlers under PSA while also arresting a drug peddler in Sopore.
Earlier in Kupwara huge quantity of contraband substances have been seized from the possession of four notorious drug peddlers identified as Tanveer Ahmad Najar @Tan Codeine resident of Chan Mohalla Salkoot, Ashiq Hussain Mir @Sohail Kachur resident of Mir Mohalla Salkoot, Latief Ahmad Lone resident of Mughalpora and Amjad Ahmad Chak resident of Kharwarpora Karnah, police said.
Accordingly, police said, cases were registered in PS Kupwara and PS Karnah and the accused were arrested. “Subsequently, the cases were duly processed and after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities, the arrested drug peddlers were detained under Public Safety Act.”
As per police, the PS Panzla received specific information through reliable sources that one person namely Liyaqat Ali son of Muhammad Kareem Khan resident of Khahmoh Rafiabad has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded narcotic substances in his residential house.
“Acting swiftly, a police party raided the specific location and recovered 70 grams of Charas from the said location. The accused person was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 15/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Panzla and an investigation is set in motion.
