4-day Sports Festival concludes at Leh

LEH, Dec 22: Chushot Green lifted the Boys volleyball Trophy thrashing Chushot Yellow in a final match played today at Indoor Stadium Leh on the closing function of four days Sports Festival under civic action programme of Jammu & Kashmir Police Leh.
Minister for Ladakh Affairs and Cooperative, J&K Govt, Chhering Dorjey Lakrook was chief guest on the concluding function.
Organized with the support of District Youth Services and Sports Deptt. Leh, a total of about 350 athletes mostly students participated in the tournament.
SSP Leh Uday Bhaskar Billa and officers of District Police Leh and heads of various religious organizations were present on the occasion.
With the aim to promote sportsmanship amongst the youths and students of Leh various games like volleyball, badminton, table tennis, discus and shot put throw, 800 &100 Mtrs races and training in Judo/Wushu was organized at EJM College ground and Indoor Stadium Leh during the sports festival.
Addressing the concluding function, the Minister Chhering Dorjey Lakrook congratulated District Police Leh for organizing their maiden tournament in winter for the youths of Leh district in different disciplines successfully and hoped that this tournament will continue with improvements in coming years. “Since we play only Ice Hockey in winter months, District Police Leh has provided a very good platform for the youth of Leh to exhibit their talents in different spots”. Said Dojrey. Congratulating all the participants, Dorjey hoped for swift improvements in their skills and urged them to aim state and national level games.
Later, Minister Dorjey Lakrook awarded trophies, medals and certificates to the participants, In 100 and 800 Mtrs Boys race, Stanzin Gurmet of EJM College Leh bagged first position while as in 100 Mtrs Girls, Fahima Kousar of IPS School Leh stood first. In 800 Mtrs girls, Stanzin Dolkar of EJM College bagged first position. In Shot Put male, Feroz Khan stood first while as in Shot Put and Discus throw female, Padma Lamo of Ladakh Women Volleyball Association Leh bagged first position. In discuss throw male, Ajaz Ahmed stood first. The Tug of War event for male and female was won by IPS School Leh and JKP Police Female respectively. The girls Volleyball Trophy was lifted by Women Volleyball Association Leh.
The J&K Police Leh orchestra team performed a colorful cultural programme on the occasion.
